In his book, Thank Your for Being Late: An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Acceleration, Thomas Friedman provides insight on the technological roller coaster we have been riding over the past decade. He outlines how accelerations in technology, globalization and the environment are “reshaping everything”.
I especially enjoyed the chapter entitled, What the Hell Happened in 2007? Thomas does a terrific job in describing how advances in computing power and storage, mobile technology (both devices and networks), and artificial intelligence, ushered in a new technological revolution.
Things aren’t all rosy; however, as he details the environmental impacts from increased use of key systems including energy, communications and transportation. A great read to get an understanding of recent technology trends and their consequences (both positive and negative).
